We build bags to make travel easier. We build Tortuga to make work better. The modern workplace prevents us from doing our best work. Long commutes, inflexible hours, endless meetings. The open office looks great but isn't conducive to deep work. During the pandemic, many people experienced the worst possible version of remote work. Companies sent everyone home but kept all of their in office processes. Hybrid work is now a confusing mishmash of two poorly designed systems. We do things differently. Our vision of work is remote, (mostly) asynchronous, and human-centric. Tortuga has been a fully-distributed company for over a decade. Our small team works remotely and lives all over the world. Tortuga's mission is to make travel easier. We know that travel makes our lives better. Yet, traveling is filled with annoying hassles and endless fees. We take care of the un-fun parts of traveling so that our customers can take great trips. At Tortuga, you’ll spend your time making travel better. Every company says that it wants to hire self-starters. Remote companies have no choice. You must take initiative and hold yourself accountable to a high standard of work. No one is looking over your shoulder or tracking every minute of your day. You will have more autonomy at Tortuga than at your previous jobs. If you can’t turn this freedom into results, you won’t be successful on a remote team. We set goals at the company and team level. You set your personal goals and figure out how to achieve them (with help from your Coach). Working remotely allows us to maximize "deep work" while minimizing meetings and distractions. At Tortuga, you will have the space to master your craft. Being an individual contributor—a Player—will never limit your growth, influence, or salary. Tortuga is a Player-centric company. Instead of a manager, you will have a Coach whose job it is to help you do your best work.
